Üsküdar is located on the Anatolian side of the Bosphorus, and is one of the oldest parts of Istanbul. It has its own personality and its special charm through the many ancient mosques and buildings. Very Üsküdar is also known by the Maiden Tower which stands on a small offshore island in the Bosporus and today is home to one of the top restaurants in Istanbul. This district is wealthy and is considered quiet compared to some parts of the city on the European side of Istanbul, which often take place demonstrations.
